Selling the Second Amendment

Iwb Concealed Carry HolstersMany years ago I was a liberal who didn’t know much about guns but thought people who wanted to buy a gun needed to undergo a psychological examination and be approved by a doctor before purchase. I was ignorant; I was raised in a family of unarmed centrists, they didn’t take me to a shooting range, no hunting trips, was lucky to shoot an 1898 Mauser in a summer camp, so I didn’t know any better.

My education about guns began when I joined an online email list in 1998, I was to be the token liberal they needed to argue with conservatives, right-wingers, anarchists, militia members, and other politically incorrect folks.

Because I’m the type of guy that prefers to attack an argument rather than the arguer, I made friends quick, and one of them, Mike, started forwarding me the facts about gun ownership, why more guns results in less crimes, why gun-free zones are dangerous, etc.

Before I became a conservative and later on, a right-libertarian, I saw the government as the people who know better, the police as our protectors, and the common good above the individual good. My misconceptions started to die the day Mathew Sheppard was murdered in what I saw then as a “hate crime,” yet now I see as just a crime since all crimes are based on hate, which renders “hate crime” redundant.

Back then my reaction was “all gays should get guns, all gays should defend themselves,” yet that’s not how the gay community reacted. Instead they had candle-light vigils, they wrote theater plays, movies, they demanded hate crime laws, they blamed churches as if the Priests were actually telling their flock to go out there and bash some gays.

I didn’t agree with them, because I saw with my own eyes how powerless the government really is, how there won’t be a cop around the corner when you need one, how you can get tied up to a fence and not be found for days. Nature demands that the weak be defeated by the strong, yet man’s Reason invented guns, and guns are that great equalizer that lets an 84-year-old woman in a wheelchair fight back against a 25-year-old burglar in his prime.

I started to see gun control as an accessory to the crime. While Mathew was killed by men, he was kept unarmed by laws and a culture that encourages weakness. It is bad gun laws keep law-abiding gun owners from bringing guns to a bar (except in Tennessee and Arizona), from keeping a gun in a college dorm room, or carrying a concealed weapon without a permit (except in Vermont where you don’t need one). The law didn’t keep Mathew’s killers unarmed, in fact, while Mathew wasn’t shot; he was beat up with the butt of a gun. Three men against one and the one that needed the gun didn’t have it.

Months after Mathew’s death, I realized that the Second Amendment is our greatest freedom, the one that makes all other freedoms possible since nothing else matters if you’re dead. So I called the National Rifle Association, I asked them if gays were allowed to join (I’m not the type that goes where I’m not wanted), the woman on the phone replied that as long as you’re a law-abiding citizen (legal residents can also join) without a criminal record, you can become a member.

Joining the NRA has been the greatest decision I have ever made, it is wonderful to give what little money I have to an organization that fights for the greatest human right of all, the right to stay alive.

Why we must sell the Second Amendment

As an advertising man, I’ve sold everything from luxury cars to payday loans, in my world we focus on a target audience and annoy them with junk mail, TV commercials, radio, etc. Yet when it comes to guns and the Second Amendment, you’re more likely to see a campaign against guns than one for guns. Pick a magazine like Vanity Fair and you’re more likely to see anti-gun propaganda from Cease Fire or the Ad Council telling you to use a gun lock than beautiful full-page ads from Smith & Wesson.

Gun manufacturers themselves only place ads in gun magazines, there’s little help for someone who’s never owned a gun, who doesn’t understand that “assault weapon” is just a scary term for “semi-automatic,” and who might consider owning a gun but has never been lucky enough to meet a pro-gun friend.

It is understandable to seek the company of like-minded people, to preach to the converted, but the future of the Second Amendment depends on increasing the number of gun owners. They say too many people have guns in this country? I say the opposite, I say we need 150 million gun owners; we need so many gun owners that it becomes political suicide for any party to propose gun control. Yet in places like New York, California and Chicago, the liberals are running those asylums. When Governor Cuomo screams like Hitler and people applaud him, one needs to be afraid. The same goes with newspapers publishing online maps of where gun owners live as if they were sex offenders.

I am thankful that the liberal media has lower ratings, that Fox News is #1, that talk radio is huge, but the reelection of Barrack Obama proves that there are still too many people not paying attention, not afraid of losing their Second Amendment rights or maybe they don’t give a damn because they don’t own guns themselves. Either way, the reelection of Obama proves that preaching to the choir isn’t enough. I’m glad there are 65 million gun owners in America but I worry about the other 240 million who either do not own guns or do not care enough to protect their rights.

For people to embrace the Second Amendment, they must be given a personal reason. For me it was not wanting to die like Sheppard, and later on, not wanting to be a slave of the State, for a man without a gun is not a master but a slave.

I love guns because I love life, mainly my own. I can’t throw a punch and I’m no martial arts expert, but in the words of Scarlett O’Hara, “I can shoot straight, as long as I don’t have to shoot too far.” Even if I couldn’t shoot straight, my handgun’s 9MM Smith & Wesson has a 15-round magazine with one in the chamber, that’s 16 chances to avoid death.

Consider the following example of what happens when you have a gun:

Police: Baldwin Man In Wheelchair Shoots, Kills Teen Intruder (PA)
ThePittsburghChannel.Com ^ | 3 January, 2011 | NA

Police said a man in a wheelchair fatally shot a young person who fired shots from a rifle while trying to enter his Baldwin Borough apartment through a window….”As the intruder was climbing through the window, he fired striking the intruder. The intruder in turn returned fire, striking the resident,” Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman said. The 19-year-old intruder died at the scene, Scott said. Bombara was treated at UPMC Mercy for a hand wound.

Think about it, what chance does a man in a wheelchair have defending himself against a 19-year-old if he has no gun? That gun owner saved his own life and removed an evil criminal from society while saving the taxpayers thousands of dollars in incarceration costs. Consider the following statistic from Hearts & Minds, a liberal website: “Prisons cost taxpayers more than $32 billion a year. Every year that an inmate spends in prison costs $22,000. An individual sentenced to five years for a $300 theft costs the public more than $100,000. The cost of a life term averages $1.5 million.”

Yet does the media care? Did The Pittsburgh Channel put that story on their front page? Did the rest of the media cover it like they covered Sandy Hook, Columbine, and the other massacres? No, but here’s the good news:

While Fox News does a good job, we cannot rely on them to promote the Second Amendment; instead it is our duty to share pro-gun stories on Facebook and powerful graphics to make our point like the following:

Revolver HolstersThis graphic is a response to the University of Colorado latest rape-prevention tips:1. Urinate. 2. Claim you’re menstruating. 4. Vomit.  5. Faint.

It’s true that the University was ridiculed in the media and eventually had to apologized, but the fact remains that they still oppose concealed carry on campus, which means they’re perfectly OK with women being unarmed and defenseless. It’s ironic that these so-called “feminists,” these “war on women” folks, are actually waging a war against women who want to defend themselves from rape and other crimes.

Then again, liberals are huge moral relativists, as one told me on Facebook: “…you are a criminal. At some point in your life, you have broken the law.” Never mind that I have never been arrested, never been convicted, never been charged with a crime- in the moral relativistic world of the liberal, going 10 miles over the speed limit is the same as being Jeffrey Dahmer.

If our enemies are going to use fear and emotion to demonize guns, what good is sharing statistics and books like “More Guns, Less Crime” by John Lott? The liberals and moderates don’t care. My own cousin is apolitical when it comes to guns, yet Michael Moore makes “Bowling for Columbine” and he watches that garbage and tells me it’s “fair and balanced.”

With the exception of “Obama’s America 2016,” conservative documentaries are rarely make and rarely obtain critical acclaim. While conservatives in Hollywood do exist, they are a persecuted minority; you could say they’re mostly in the closet while the liberals are loud and proud.

Since the Koch Brothers aren’t in the movie business and we can’t wait for Hollywood to represent our views, we have no choice but to do it ourselves. We continue to share pro-gun stories and graphics on social media. This book will focus on different sale strategies we can use for different targets, while as a right-libertarian I hate to divide people into groups and would rather see them as individuals; the reality is that marketing demands unique messages for unique audiences. One size does not fit all.

Whether you’re a straight white male, black, gay, Jewish, female, Christian, etc, a Unique Selling Proposition must be given to convince you and others that guns are good, guns save lives, and the Second Amendment is in the words of the NRA, words I believe myself, America’s First Freedom.

Shoulder Gun HolsterSelling to Liberals and Moderates/Centrists.

What do Jared Lee Loughner, Maj. Nidal Hassan, Seung-Hui Cho, Wade Michael Page, James Holmes, Christopher Dorner, and Adam Lanza have in common? Besides being mass murderers, they’re registered Democrats. In the case of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, they were too young to vote but both their families were registered Democrats.

So the next time some liberal tells you that our “right-wing” culture creates gun massacres, go ahead and quote them this list. Of course, most progressive liberal democrats are not going to engage in mass shootings, but when they support laws that keep our public spaces gun-free, they are enabling massacres even if that’s the last thing they want.

Liberals are more likely to support legalizing drugs than legalizing guns, they’re the first ones to tell you that the government is wasting billions in a failed drug war, that it’s easier for teens to buy marijuana illegally than booze legally, that the government has no business with what you put in your body (unless you smoke or eat trans fats), that partial-birth abortions are perfectly fine. Yet when it comes to guns, they either want to ban them or control them or both.

Amendment II (1791)
A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Liberal’s, Moderates/Centrists don’t read these words the way we do, that it gives the people (i.e. individuals) the right to ‘Keep and Bear Arms’. Instead, they think it only allows the creation of state militias. Some are even so ignorant that they think the National Guard (created in 1916) is a state militia so organizations like the Michigan Militia are not necessary.

The truth is that the Second Amendment applies to both individuals and militias, its designed to protect both the individual and the people from tyranny.

Consider the words of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto during World War Two: “You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass.”  See? You don’t have to join the military to become a soldier, if you own a gun; you are a soldier that protects yourself and others. Even if you weigh 300 pounds and can barely move, your bullets will travel faster than the fastest runner at the Olympics. You will be more powerful than the strongest man in the world. Admiral Yamamoto was no constitutional scholar or expert on gun rights, but he had enough common sense to understand that millions of civilians with guns are nothing to laugh at.

Liberals on the other hand are more likely to be afraid of individuals than the government. Notice how they complain about “too many stupid people.” This isn’t new, George Bernard Shaw was a huge advocate of eugenics, he even wanted people to justify their existence once a year and if they could not prove how useful they were to society, they should be executed with a compassionate gas.

Ask the liberals this, if they want people protected from stupid choices and stupid people, why not ban tattoos? Why not put fat people in concentration camps until they lose weight? Or if that’s too harsh, why not have make them get a permit and wait 48-hours before having cheeseburger? I doubt liberals would like that, yet most of them fail to support freedom unless it’s for something they like.

Liberals believe more guns means more crimes. In their world, anyone who owns a gun has the potential of becoming a criminal. Call me crazy, but I saw the movie Psycho and I don’t think every man that owns a kitchen knife has the potential of killing a beautiful woman in the shower. Besides, how many criminals do you know that get fingerprinted when they buy a gun? Smart criminals prefer “clean guns,” why would you commit a crime with a gun that can be traced back to you?

Criminals buy guns and almost anything else they want on the black market. Criminals will always have guns even if the government bans guns. Even in Japan the Japanese Mafia or Yakuza manage to get pretty much any weapon they want, of course, their crime rate is lower than us because they have a monolithic culture based on respect for the law and shame over unseemly behavior. We are not Japan, we are multicultural and messy, with people from all backgrounds and lifestyles, and our survival depends on self-reliance, not respect for authority.

But don’t take my word; let’s look at another messy multicultural nation: Great Britain. In 2012, the British government showed that crimes committed with guns have soared 35%. How can this be? Hardly any law-abiding citizen can have guns, and when they do, they get in trouble with the law.

Consider the case of farmer Martin, a man who had been burglarized ten times, he complained of the police doing nothing, finally one day he shot the burglar with a pump-action shotgun, the kind Joe Biden wants you to fire into the air as a warning to would be criminals. Well, the result was Martin went to jail; the burglar’s family sued him. Imagine that, a dead youth that had been arrested 29 times by the time of his death, and his family had the gall to sue Martin for his death. Really?

English law permits one person to kill another in self-defense only if the person defending him or herself uses no more than “reasonable force”; it is the responsibility of the jury to determine whether or not an unreasonable amount of force was used. The jury at the trial were told that they had the option of returning a verdict of manslaughter rather than murder, if they thought that Martin “did not intend to kill or cause serious bodily harm”. However, the jurors found Martin guilty of murder by a 10 to 2 majority.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a recommended minimum term to serve of 9 years, reduced to 8 years by the Lord Chief Justice.

Luckily for Martin, the public outcry was so great he was freed after three years in prison (they denied him parole). Yet even today, he has to live in a secret location because the dead man’s family and friends have put a price of his head.

Mexico is a great example of gun control doing nothing to stop crime. Ciudad Juarez and El Paso are neighbors, yet while El Paso has been named the safest city of its size in America with minimal gun control, Ciudad Juarez has had 10,000 deaths in the last five years with maximum gun control.  There are no gun shows in Mexico, no NRA, and the only people that can legally buy arms are licensed security guards, cops, the military and very few rich people.

So to the liberals I ask, is this how you want to live? Persecuted by the government for shooting a burglar in your own home? Killed by the Mexican cartels because you had nothing to defend yourself with? It’s ironic the English tend to think Americans are so uncivilized, is this their version of civilization? A country where criminals can be arrested 29 times but peaceful citizens are given life sentences? Thanks but no thanks.

America is not England, but America needs to watch out. Just like the land of Beethoven became the land of Hitler, America could become New Europe or New New Mexico if we don’t watch out.

Our first president, George Washington said, “Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence…from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable…the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference—they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.”

Thomas Paine, the author of “Common Sense,” had this to say: “The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserved order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside…Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them.

Co-author of the Second Amendment George Mason said, “I ask , Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”

Our third president, Thomas Jefferson said, “The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution.”

A former U.S. Senator (R-WY) Malcolm Wallop said, “The ruling class doesn’t care about public safety. Having made it very difficult for States and localities to police themselves as best they can, they now try to take our guns away. In fact, they blame us and our guns for crime. This is so wrong that it cannot be an honest mistake.”

Samuel Adams in 1850 said, “That the said Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of The United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.”

Thomas Jefferson, the man liberals love because he might have been a deist, said, “The strongest reason for people to retain the right keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”

Compare that to this quote from pro-gun control Sara Brady to Senator Howard Metzenbaum, The National Educator, January 1994: “Our main agenda is to have all guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn’t matter if you have to distort the facts or even lie. Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed.”

Now today you won’t find Brady uttering such inflammatory remarks, thanks to the power of social media, socialists have gotten smarter. In the spirit of Van Jones, Obama’s former Green Czar, they have dropped the radical pose for the radical ends. That’s why today gun control groups use terms like “gun safety”. These people hate guns yet they’re going to tell us how to use them safely? They make as much sense as “Prostitutes for Chastity” and “Anti-Semites for Judaism”.

Our forefathers gave us the Constitution to protect us from tyranny, not to keep us safe. Benjamin Franlin himself said that those who exchange freedom for security deserve neither.

Want a different point of view? In 1933 Hitler said, “If you wish the sympathy of the broad masses, you must tell them the crudest and most stupid things. This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future.”

Why is it that Obama has no qualms when it comes to killing American citizens abroad with drones yet cries over a thug like Trayvon Martin killed at home? If you think Trayvon is a victim, then let me bash your head against the ground and see if you don’t shoot me like Zimmerman did. In fact, I have never seen Obama congratulate any law-abiding citizen that shoots anyone in self-defense, yet Obama claims to support the Second Amendment.

In fact, maybe the lesson the Trayvons of the world need to learn is this: Treat everyone like they have a gun. I like to joke that here in the South we’re polite because we’re all packing. That doesn’t mean that if you make a Southerner angry he’s going to take out his gun and shoot you, law-abiding people have self-control, the lawless don’t, and this is why an armed society is a polite society, for even most lawless people know that picking a fight with an armed man is a big mistake. Perhaps Trayvon would be alive today if Florida allowed open carry of weapons or if Zimmerman had shown his weapon before Trayvon started attacking him.

Why are we nice to cops? Is it because we’re raised to respect them or because they have the authority to arrest us and shoot us if we resist? Whatever the reason, the sight of a gun commands respect. Yet because so many people have ridiculous fears against guns, most gun owners are carrying their weapons concealed. So to liberals/centrist/moderates I say, carry your gun openly, show the world that you can defend yourself and others.

Even if you don’t want to own a gun, support someone that does because when we protect the Second Amendment, we protect the entire constitution. There’s no freedom of speech, religion, assembly, if you’re dead or terrorized or intimidated into silence. Don’t believe me? Ask those armed Marxists known as The Black Panthers. Nobody intimidates them.

In conclusion, here are a few arguments we can make with liberals, centrists and moderates:

A. The Columbine teens broke 19 laws. Where were the police? In 1998, of all the gun convictions in this country, almost none went to prison: 8 in San Francisco, 14 in NJ, 9 in Pittsburgh, 2 in Washington, D.C. Half a million felons were denied firearms purchases through NICS, but almost none were arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned for the attempt. It’s already illegal for a child to own a gun. It’s already illegal for a parent to leave a loaded gun where a child can find one. It’s already illegal to shoot someone. It’s already illegal to buy a gun for someone else who isn’t allowed to have one. It’s already illegal for felons to own guns.

B. They say 13 children a day die by handguns. Not true. This number includes 18 and 19 year old “children” who are gang members and drug dealers. The number for children 14 and under is 1.7 per day, and if you take out suicides (if someone is determined to kill themselves, they’ll do it without a gun, in a much nastier way), it’s 1.3 per day.
Source: Idem

C. They want gun owners to register their guns the way people register cars, and they want gun owners to have licenses like they do for cars. There are a few problems with that. First, cars are not guns. Cars are more dangerous than guns. More people are killed in car accidents every year than with guns. There are 96,000 gun injuries per year, and 32,000 of those are fatal. There are 3,000,000 injuries and 41,000 deaths per year from car accidents. There are 60 million gun owners who own 230,000,000 guns in this country, and there are 210,000,000 registered vehicles. Those rates come out to: .00013 gun deaths per gun vs. .00019 car deaths per car. Besides, there’s no right to keep and drive cars but there is a right to keep and bear arms.
Source: Idem

D. Roughly 16,272 murders were committed in the United States during 2008. Of these, about 10,886 or 67% were committed with firearms. Seems like a lot? Not really. In a 1994 survey conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that Americans use guns to frighten away intruders who are breaking into their homes about 498,000 times per year.

E. A 1982 survey of male felons in 11 state prisons dispersed across the U.S. found:

  • 34% had been “scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim”
  • 40% had decided not to commit a crime because they “knew or believed that the victim was carrying a gun”
  • 69% personally knew other criminals who had been “scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim
    Source: Idem

F. The bill of rights protects individual rights. In countries like Venezuela you have free speech unless it offends morality or common decency. Here, individuals can burn flags, create virtual child porn, write the filthiest novels, join a cult, and participate in pornographic movies as long as everyone is under 18 and the porn has “artistic value,” (refer to the Miller Test on obscenity). So why would the right to keep and bear arms be collective? Why would it refer only to people in the military? If our founding fathers did not trust us with arms, they would not have written the Second Amendment.

G. Liberals like to say, “if you don’t like abortion, don’t have one.” I throw that argument back at them, “if you don’t like guns, don’t buy one.”

Selling to Blacks

If any free negro, mulatto, or free person of colour shall wear or carry about his or her person, or keep in his or her house, any shotgun, musket, rifle, pistol, sword, dagger or bowie-knife… he or she shall be guilty of a misdemanour, and may be indicted therefore.

North Carolina Supreme Court, 1840.

How can any black person read that quote and not want to buy a gun? Here’s how, most blacks are not going to learn the truth during Black History Month, Jesse Jackson and the other race profiteers don’t make a living by empowering blacks, instead, they need black neighborhoods full of crime so they have something to complain about.

The goal of people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Maxine Waters is to build up political capital. Fixing the problems of black communities is not their goal. They need bad neighborhoods, escalating crime, and high unemployment so they can use these as political and economic clubs to extract votes and money….It was Al Sharpton who said that Herman Cain was not “authentically Black.” What did he mean? Cain didn’t have the usual markings of a poor, disadvantaged, ghettoized, welfare-raised black man because he succeeded in business. Cain could not be used as a poster child or neglect and need for the guild-laden white community to donate to liberal black causes and to get them to vote Democrat.

As Harold Davis puts it: “Jesse Jackson is worth $40 million dollars… and Martin Luther King died broke.” There are some outspoken African-Americans who support our right to keep and bear arms, but the media doesn’t focus on them. In fact, when the average person thinks “blacks with guns” images of gangsta rappers and actual gangsters come to mind. This is a stereotype, but it’s a stereotype supported by the liberal media that claims to love blacks.

As with every citizen of this country, blacks have every right to protect themselves and their property. Our black men and women join the military and fight with all our soldiers to protect our rights and freedom, and when they come home, they deserve to the same Constitutional rights as everyone else in this country. Just as with any other race, there are good and there are bad. Everyone has a choice and those who choose to live a good life, deserve to be able to protect themselves and their property.

In 1967, thirty young men and women known as the Black Panthers armed with 12 gauge shot guns, .357 Magnums, and .45 caliber pistols, launched a gun-rights movement at the state capitol in California. The 24 men and 6 women, climbed the steps, and a man known as Bobby Seale started reading from a prepared statement.

The American people in general and the black people in particular must take careful note of the racist California legislature aimed at keeping the black people disarmed and powerless. Black people have begged, prayed, petitioned, demonstrated, and everything else to get the racist power structure of America to right the wrongs which have historically been perpetuated against black people. The time has come for black people to arm themselves against this terror before it is too late.

These 30 armed men and women walked inside the most important building in the state with loaded guns in hand. Nothing stood in there way. Huey Newton and Bobby Seale had formed the Black Panther Party six months earlier, in Oakland. Newton and Seale were frustrated with the failed promise of the civil-rights movement. In Newton and Seale’s view, the only tangible outcome of the civil-rights movement had been more violence and oppression committed by the very people that were meant to protect and serve, the police. Newton and Seale believed along with the rest of the citizens that they had the right to protect their persons and properties against terrorism and tyranny.

Leather Pistol HolstersThese two men knew if the government, local, state, and federal, was to take these Constitutional rights away from law-abiding citizens that oppression would, by the government start again with them and the rest of this country’s people. We all need to come together now to prevent tyranny!

Yet tyranny is exactly what the panthers got when Don Mulford, a so-called “conservative” Republican state assemblyman, wanted to finish the Panthers’ police patrols. To keep them unarmed, he proposed a law that would made it illegal to carry a loaded weapon in any California city. “When Newton found out about this, he told Seale, “You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to the Capitol.” Seale was incredulous. “The Capitol?” Newton explained: “Mulford’s there, and they’re trying to pass a law against our guns, and we’re going to the Capitol steps.” Newton’s plan was to take a select group of Panthers “loaded down to the gills,” to send a message to California lawmakers about the group’s opposition to any new gun control.”

Well, they did send a message, they managed to scared both Democrats and Republicans in California about the Second Amendment, this irrational fear continues today. In fact, a lot of black activist would be shocked to learn that Martin Luther King Jr., Mr. Non-Violence, was a huge supporter of guns. In 1956 he applied for a permit to carry a concealed weapon, after his house was bombed. The application was denied, which is why he had armed supporters guarding his home. “One adviser, Glenn Smiley, described the King home as “an arsenal.” William Worthy, a black reporter who covered the civil-rights movement, almost sat on a loaded gun in a living-room armchair during a visit to King’s parsonage.”
According to, Black Americans do not have enough guns, even though they are victimized by crimes more often than whites. Blacks are heavily represented in California and in the northeast and Midwest states, which, like California, deny citizens their right to bear arms. Criminals in black neighborhoods can relax with the knowledge that most law-abiding blacks don’t have guns to defend themselves from the bad guys. This plus but relationships with the cops create an environment where criminals rule, where residents are encouraged to “stop snitching” and threatened with death if they do.

The irony is that when a criminal gets put in jail, the left still complains, they even call it racist. Consider the following fact from a liberal website: “Black men are 6% of the U.S. population but over 40% of our prison population.”

So what are we supposed to do? Release 34% of the prisoners and hope they will stop committing crime? So much for justice being blind. In conclusion, when discussing the Second Amendment with black people, let us quote their own history for them. If you’re white and they don’t believe you, show them quotes from Malcom X, show them gun control laws aimed at blacks in the old South,
Consider the shocking reasoning from Florida Supreme Court Justice Buford’s in Watson vs. Stone (1941), in which a white man’s conviction for carrying a handgun without a permit was overturned, because the gun was in the glove compartment of the car: “I know something of the history of this legislation. The original Act of 1893 was passed when there was a great influx of negro laborers in this State drawn here for the purpose of working in turpentine and lumber camps. The same condition existed when the Act was amended in 1901 and the Act was passed for the purpose of disarming the negro laborers and to thereby reduce the unlawful homicides that were prevalent in turpentine and saw-mill camps and to give the white citizens in sparsely settled areas a better feeling of security. The statute was never intended to be applied to the white population and in practice has never been so applied.”

Or look at this 1831 response to Nat Turner’s Rebellion that prohibited FREE blacks “to keep or carry any firelock of any kind, any military weapon, or any powder or lead…” The existing laws under which free blacks were occasionally licensed to possess or carry arms was also repealed, making arms possession completely illegal for free blacks. But even before this action by the Virginia Legislature, in the aftermath of Turner’s Rebellion, the discovery that a free black family possessed lead shot for use as scale weights, without powder or weapon in which to fire it, was considered sufficient reason for a frenzied mob to discuss summary execution of the owner. The analogy to the current hysteria where mere possession of ammunition in some states without a firearms license may lead to jail time, should be obvious.”
Source: Idem

Does this seem familiar? Today there are also proposals to tax ammunition heavily, restrict ammo purchases online, and undo concealed carry laws. Who is this going to affect? Rich whites with licenses to carry a gun like Sarah Brady? Or everyone else?

I think we can all learn from the Deacons from Defense and Justice, during the 1960s, the Klan firebombed many black churches, so a group of Deacons decided to arm themselves and post armed guards outside their congregation. They did not promote violence, they did get investigated by the FBI, but the sight of a black man with a gun was enough to intimidate Klansmen from attacking.

At the end of the day, the question blacks have to ask themselves is “do I want to be a slave again?” Because what is a man without a gun but a slave, a dependent on those who are more powerful than he is, be it the State, the criminal, the cops, etc.? A free man isn’t afraid to be master of his own destiny; he stands strong instead of waiting for a stronger man to protect him. Even Marc Lamont Hill, a self-described black progressive, knows what’s going on: “Consistently, blacks are over-represented among the “unworthy,” despite being statistically more likely to confront random violence. Gun bans against public housing residents, supposedly designed to prevent violent crime, have served to disarm poor blacks almost exclusively.”

Too bad he ends his opinion column with the following: “Gun violence is a plague, and reasonable gun control makes perfect sense. We must support laws that ban gun show sales, straw purchases, interstate gun trafficking and other loopholes that enable handguns to get into the hands of criminals. And I find no good reason to allow private citizens to buy weapons of mass destruction that have no sporting or self-defense purpose – or to let felons or mentally ill people get hold of firearms. But while it would be naive to suggest that guns will solve the problem of urban violence, it would be equally shortsighted to ignore the dangers of further disarming the people who need the most help.”
Source: Idem.

Sorry Marc, the reasonable gun control you demand is going to disarm the people you seek to protect. Criminals don’t buy guns legally, so the loopholes won’t affect them. I also don’t remember the last time I saw gang bangers at a gun show. And what the hell is a weapon of mass destruction? A 357 Magnum can cause as much destruction as an AR-15. As for felons or the mentally ill, read the laws already in the books, they’re not allowed to buy firearms legally.

At the end of the day, we don’t need gun control, we need crime control. We control crime by owning guns, defending ourselves and others, punishing criminals and building more jails.

If you want an example of great pro-gun messaging targeted at African-Americans, check out Colion Noir’s YouTube videos and Facebook page, his popularity in social media is such that the the NRA hired him.

In conclusion, a few arguments we can make with blacks about gun control.

  1. White racists and white liberals don’t want you to own guns because they are afraid of you.
  2. The black criminals that terrorize your neighborhood did not get their guns at the gun show or gun store, they got them the way they get their crack, cocaine, heroin, etc… illegally. Passing laws for people that break the law is an exercise in futility.
  3. Everything the State does comes with an unintended consequence. Affirmative action? You get treated like you don’t deserve your job. Welfare? More women become single-mothers. Progressive income tax? The rich find loopholes or hide their money while the middle class suffers. The State can’t even balance their own budget, so why would you expect them to protect you?
  4. Not every man is your brother. People who rob, rape, murder, etc., they’re nobody’s brothers. They’re criminals. You deserve a gun to shoot them, and they deserve to rot in jail if they live.

Selling to Hispanics

Most Hispanics in America are from Mexican-descent, in Mexico it’s illegal for civilians to own firearms, only cops, licensed security guards and the military has legal access for them. However, that doesn’t keep them from have several gun massacres every year. In a country with complete gun control, 14 Mexican teenagers were killed and 12 were wounded at a birthday party after criminals showed up.

Venezuela is another great example of how gun control doesn’t work: In 2012, Hugo Chavez banned all private guns and prohibited gun shops from selling to private individuals, with exceptions to police and military officials. Did the crime go down? Nope, the already high crime rate increased by 12%. “In total, there were 21,692 homicides in 2012. That’s 73 murders per 100,000 people,” this in a country of 20 million people. In America, a country of more than 300 million, our murder rate is 4.7 per 100,000 people.

The challenge with Latinos is that they come from a culture that values the group over the individual, so choosing to be a gun owner when you’re surrounded by unarmed people is not an easy choice for them. Latinos are also overwhelmingly Catholic, and the Catholic Church is not exactly friendly to firearms although ironically, there is a Catholic Saint that used a firearm to defend others:

In 1860, St. Gabriel Possenti’s handgun marksmanship enabled him to rescue the villagers of Isola del Gran Sasso, Italy from a marauding gang of about 20 renegade soldiers.

After freeing a young woman from would-be rapists, St. Gabriel Possenti confronted the onrushing brigands waving revolvers. At that moment, Possenti fired at a lizard that happened to be running across the road and dispatched it with one shot. Thus having demonstrated his excellent handgun marksmanship, he was able to take command of the situation and ran the now-frightened brigands out of town.

St. Gabriel Possenti performed this feat of courage without causing physical harm to a single human being.

Sadly, Latinos are very progressive on gun control. An April report by the Pew Center found that Latinos are more likely to favor strict gun control laws than either whites or African-Americans. So how can we persuade Latinos to change their minds about guns?

A. Latinos are famous for their love of family, including the extended family: To them the idea of putting the grandparents in a nursing home is abhorrent, which is why family members will chip in and hire a nurse or have the abuelo or abuela under the same roof. So to them we can argue that guns are the best way to protect one’s family. There are hundreds of stories of elderly men and women using a gun to defend themselves.

VERONA — Earl Jones had just turned off his new TV shortly after 2 a.m. Monday when he heard a bang in the basement.

The 92-year-old Boone County farmer walked eight paces to get his loaded .22 caliber rifle from behind the bedroom door…when he heard footsteps moving closer up the stairs, he raised the rifle to his eye. The intruder kicked open the door. Jones fixed his aim on the center of the man’s chest and fired a single shot. The Boone County Sheriff later announced the death of the intruder, Lloyd (Adam) Maxwell, 24, of Richmond, Ky.

B. Exploit Machismo: There are good and bad things about machismo, while this form of behavior has led men to treat women as second-class people that need to be protected, it also promotes courage to fight, a celebration of manhood, keeping one’s word, and acting like a man. We can argue that a man who can’t defend himself isn’t macho because he will not always be the strongest when facing an armed or unarmed opponent. Consider the fact that famous boxer Hector “Macho” Camacho died after being shot in the face. Hector knew how to beat up people in the ring, it would have taken him seconds to pull out a gun and shot the man who robbed him. Instead, his robber had a gun, didn’t want to leave a witness, and Hector ended up dead.

C. Cuban-Americans Hate Castro, Castro Hates Guns: While Cuban-Americans are the most reliable Republican voters, demographics are changing and young Cubans have voted for Obama in greater numbers than they did for McCain and Romney. So when we try to convince Cubans to support us, copy and paste the following: “One reason why Cuba remains a totalitarian regime after 50 years is that early on, Fidel Castro ordered the confiscation of all firearms in private hands…He asked the question:  “Why do we need arms? To fight against who? To fight against a revolutionary government that has the support of all of its people?”

If you speak Spanish, it’s important to write letters to the editor of Hispanic newspapers. Don’t let the voice of the anti-gunners be the only voice they hear. If you own a gun store, consider advertising in Spanish radio stations, websites, etc.

Hispanics are projected to become the largest minority in the USA by 2050, Forbes Magazine calls them a trillion-dollar market. While most Hispanics speak English and their children are growing up with both a Hispanic and American culture, we cannot expect every Hispanic to be like Marco Rubio. Instead, we must do what companies like P&G and others do, reach out and persuade.

Concealment HolstersSelling to Women

Throughout the ages, women have often been treated like property. While the wife of a Senator in ancient Rome could help her husband behind the scenes, she was not allowed to hold any political office. The New Testament itself instructs women to submit to their husband, and while the Old Testament allows polygamy for men, it does not allow women the same privilege.

Times have changed, now women go to war, become police officers, firefighters, compete in female boxing leagues, and are not waiting for a knight in shining armor to save them. Women like Suze Orman teach them to be responsible about money, to not assume that alimony will be enough and that the debt their husbands create won’t affect them. The same can be said for self-protection, no man is going to be with a woman 24/7, protecting her from harm (assuming he’s not defeated).

Most women are home alone or with children when a home invasion occurs. In the USA, home invasions happen every 15 seconds. Most intruders force their way in through the front door. According to some, one out of every five homes will be victimized by violent home invasion or burglary.

Home invaders are boldface criminals, sometimes armed with weapons. A family is often at the mercy of the intruder, even without a weapon, a 300-pound man has the upper hand when facing a 150-pound woman. This can result in women being physically assaulted, raped or murdered.

When Cecilia Bigelow asked Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) why is he pro-choice when it comes to abortion but not self-defense for women, the congressman ignored the question in spite of the crowd applauding and expecting an answer. One does not need to be sharp shooter like Annie Oakley to know Jim isn’t shooting straight.

The good news is that the number of women who own guns is increasing. In 2001, the NRA only had 500 members that were women; in 2011, it went up to 9,500 women members. Why else does one see so many pink rifles and handguns? I doubt it’s men that are buying those.

Gun ownership among women makes perfect sense. Consider the case of the unarmed Central Park jogger who got rapped and brutalized by 10 gang members. Thankfully, outside New York City it’s easier for women to carry a handgun when they go jogging, to the store, the theater, etc. Since women are already seen as easy targets by the criminals, it makes no sense to be unarmed.

Of course, to convince women that owning and carrying guns is a good idea, we must help them overcome some of the lies women grow up with.

A. Being feminine and owning firearms are not mutually exclusive. Nobody would accuse Scarlett O’Hara (Gone with the Wind) of being masculine when she shot that Yankee soldier that wanted to rape her. While Scarlett is a character of fiction, there are real women who have defended themselves with guns.

35 year old woman gets gas, goes home, hears knock on door, opens door to strange man (Lawrence Sandoval), he forces his way inside, goes to kitchen and grabs knife.

She tells him to leave and runs to her bedroom. He says, “That’s a good idea.” and follows her. Put knife to her and begins to tear her shirt off.

“She told him to stop or she was going to shoot him,” according to the warrant, but apparently he didn’t take her threat seriously: “The unknown male subject replied telling her, ‘You will not shoot me.’ ”

As Sandoval continued to push her to undress, the woman told deputies, she reached under her pillow, grabbed a loaded gun and pointed it at him. She told investigators the man “continued to come toward her placing his knee on her,” so she pulled the trigger.

Woman drops gun, (9mm Luger) runs out of home, calls 911.

Police and ambulance arrive, guy is dead, they get search warrant, seize the rest of her guns (two handguns, rifle, shotgun, and BB gun) and ammo as well as blanket from bed. They are searching for the bullet that killed him.

No charges have been filed.

B. Gender roles are optional. Times have changed; a woman doesn’t have to be a stay at home mom if she doesn’t want to, nor does she have to rely on a man to protect her. Real men are not afraid of their girlfriends and wives owning guns, in fact, they would rather have the peace of mind that their women can protect themselves 24/7.

C. Being a victim will not protect your family. During the Sandy Hook massacre, one teacher used her body as a human shield to protect her students from the psycho. While that action is heroic, what good is dying and leaving your little ones exposed to a killer or with the trauma of losing their mom?  There’s no courage in being a victim, it’s an easy choice that requires no resistance. If you truly love your children, you must be willing to defend them by any means necessary, and there are no better means than a firearm you know how to use.

D. Having small hands is no excuse. While any woman can learn to master the recoil of a 44 or a 357, guns came in all shapes, sizes and calibers. A good starter gun is the basic 22, ammo is cheap and it has been used in self-defense. Of course, for me personally I go with the 9MM since it presents enough firepower to stop an attack with enough bullets in case you miss and not too much noise or recoil.

Selling to Jews

Not every Jew is a liberal, Meir Kahane of the Jewish Defense League used to say “for every Jew a 22.” He unlike others, understood the persecution Jews have faced throughout history, from pogroms by armed Cossacks to the holocaust, their enemies have often faced unarmed Jews.

The Nazis themselves hated civilian ownership of firearms and made it illegal for Jews to keep and bear arms in their infamous Nuremberg Laws. Yet even during the holocaust there were Jews who managed to find guns in the black market, from the partisans who fought in the forests to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in which Jews with sub-par weapons killed many Nazis, when Jews got guns they were able to fight back.

The State of Israel is a great example of this, while they don’t have a Second Amendment like we do, gun ownership in Israel is extremely common. My tour guide in Israel carried an Uzi with the magazine taped to the weapon, ready to be loaded in two seconds. Israeli children on school trips often will travel with a teacher or parent armed with a Galil riffle or other weapon(s).  Because war can start at any time, all soldiers are expected to keep their primary weapons at home, and it’s common to see them travelling in public with their guns.

A great organization for Jews interested in learning about their rights is Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership at The bible itself supports armed self-defense:

Exodus 22:1 we read:
If, while breaking in, the thief is discovered, and he is struck and dies, [it is as if] he has no blood.
Rashi, the greatest commentator on the Tanach (the original, Jewish name for the 24 books of the Bible) who gathers together millennia of interpretation, comments:

“He has no blood. [This signifies that] this is not [considered] murder. It is as though he [the thief] is [considered] dead from the start. Here the Torah teaches you: If someone comes to kill you, kill him first. And this one [the thief] has come to kill you, because he knows that a person will not hold himself back and remain silent when he sees people taking his money. Therefore, he [the thief] has come with the acknowledgement that if the owner of the property were to stand up against him, he [thief] would kill him [the owner]. – [From Talmud Sanhedrin. 72a]”.

Under Jewish law there is also an obligation to assist others in danger of dying.”You shall not stand by [the shedding of] your fellow’s blood. I am the Lord (Leviticus 19:16)”

The great Jewish scholar Nachmanides also understood that weapons are tools, and they are not evil by themselves: “Have I killed a man, as great-grandpa Cain has done seven generations ago? It is not the sword that kills, but the bad choice by a man. Without a sword, too, a man could kill another by wounding and battering as did Cain…”
Source: Idem

Rabbi Bendori offers a modern view of why Jews need guns: ““Jews have a very long history of being at the wrong end of a gun barrel,” he said. “When we think about guns we think about them being used against us. We have a tendency not to think about the gun as an incredibly valuable defensive tool. In a world where you have arrests in New York City of, quote unquote, ‘home-grown terrorists’ who are buying guns to go have shootings in synagogues, in a world where you have a shooting at the Holocaust Museum in Washington and the JCC in Seattle and the JCC in LA — and I could go on and on — the reality is that for certain kind of attacks, the handgun is the best defensive weapon we have.”

When arguing with a Jew about why he should consider owning a gun and supporting our Second Amendment, tell him this.

A. Anti-Semites expect Jews to be easy targets. What good is saying “never again” when it comes to the holocaust if you continue to be unarmed and defenseless? They say that he who saves a life saves half the world, if that’s so, start with your own life. Save yourself, save your family, and care not if the Jew hater that wants to murder you meets his own death in the process.

B. Sometimes violence is justified. How did David defeated Goliath? How did the Maccabees threw the Greeks out? How does modern-day Israel deal with terrorists? It’s not with diplomacy but with defense.

C. If gun control works, how do you explain the high crime rates in Chicago, New York, DC, LA and San Francisco?

D. The police have no duty to protect you: Check out Warren v. District of Columbia. Two women were upstairs in a townhouse when they heard their roommate, a third woman, being attacked downstairs by intruders. They phoned the police several times and were assured that officers were on the way. After about 30 minutes, when their roommate’s screams had stopped, they assumed the police had finally arrived. When the two women went downstairs they saw that in fact the police never came, but the intruders were still there. As the Warren court graphically states in the opinion: “For the next fourteen hours the women were held captive, raped, robbed, beaten, forced to commit sexual acts upon each other, and made to submit to the sexual demands of their attackers.”

The three women sued the District of Columbia for failing to protect them, but D.C.’s highest court exonerated the District and its police, saying that it is a “fundamental principle of American law that a government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any individual citizen.”

Selling to Gays

Blacks and gays aren’t the same, one’s a race, the other is a sexual orientation. However, here comes the shocking news: 30% of gays always vote Republican. Think about this, the GOP spends plenty of treasure reaching out to blacks, they speak at the NAACP convention, they send direct mail, they do voter outreach, yet 90%+ of blacks always vote for the Democrat. With gays there’s little outreach, groups like Log Cabin Republicans and GoProud (of which Ann Coulter is a supporter) don’t exist because the GOP is kissing their butts. Gays who vote Republican do it out of principle, some want lower taxes, some want to protect their Second Amendment rights; others simply don’t like the liberal mentality.

So how do we reach out to the 70% that are voting for the Democrats, and thus against the Second Amendment?  How do we do it when gay magazines like are controlled by liberals who can’t distinguish between sexual orientation and political orientation?

We do it by showing that the Second Amendment has saved gays from dying. You have heard of Mathew Sheppard, but have you heard of Tom G. Palmer?

One night some years ago in San Jose, he (Tom G. Palmer) found himself confronting a gang of toughs, as many as 20 of them, intent on gay-bashing him. Taunted as a “f-gg-t,” threatened with death, Palmer (and a friend) ran for their lives, only to find the gang in hot pursuit. So Palmer stopped, reached into his backpack, and produced a gun. The gang backed off.

If no gun? “There’s no question in my mind,” Palmer told me in 1999, “that my friend and I would have been at least very seriously beaten, and maybe killed.

Just the sight of a gun can make any bully think twice about his actions. Who wouldn’t want the power to make 20 tough men back off? The answer is to that question is Sue Hyde.

I don’t believe arming ourselves is a sustainable response to a subculture of hate towards homosexuality. We are not going to settle our scores as a community by having a shoot-out at the OK Corral,” stated Sue Hyde of the Boston office of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force to the Southern Voices in 2002.

The problem with liberals is that they rarely think of themselves as individuals. They never think “if 5 gay bashers are going to beat me up, I’m gonna need a gun.” Instead they think “if society made things better, there would be no gay bashers.” Yet liberals don’t make that argument when it comes to same-sex marriage, they don’t say “don’t worry about wearing a condom, someday they will find a cure for AIDS.” They also don’t say: “you don’t need to exercise, someday they will invent a pill that will let you eat anything you want and not gain a pound.

A logical person identifies an individual problem and finds individual solutions. Crime is committed by individuals, so the response to crime must be individual as well.

In the words of a gay African-American:

I can see some crazed fool come into a bar where gays hang out or my homeys and shoot the hell out of us,” Adam Williams told me. Williams is an African American trans male who has been the victim of both gay-bashing and racial violence. Feeling more vulnerable than ever in his life with this recent Supreme Court ruling Williams tells me he’s going to carry a gun with him.

“Ain’t nothing out here to protect you now. I don’t trust the cops ’cause they beat the shit out of you with other officers watching,” Williams referring to the news about the cop beat down of Duanna Johnson, an African American transwoman, in a Memphis booking room that was captured on a surveillance video. “I’d be stupid not to go packing now.

Yet the ability to “go packing” is limited by individual States, in New York, California, Chicago, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia, it’s very hard to get a license to carry a concealed weapon, even buying a gun for home defense is extremely difficult. It is ironic these states are considered “gay-friendly,” if you ask me, they’re gay-basher friendly.  If you were a gay basher, where would you like to do damage? In a State where gays are unarmed or one where they can bear guns?
So when you meet gays on Facebook, here are some arguments you can make.

A. Gay bashers want you to be unarmed and defenseless.

B. If you don’t want the State making your sex life illegal (former Sodomy Laws) or keeping gay marriage illegal, why would you want the State making it harder or impossible to buy and keep a gun?
C. Laws punish criminals, guns protect victims. If someone is trying to kill you or cause massive bodily injury, quoting the law won’t help you at all.

Selling to Asians

According to Asian Fortune News, in 2008, Asian Americans are the least likely to own guns. Part of this is cultural, part political, and a great deal might have to do with immigration laws. After the overhaul of the immigration laws in 1965, more Asians began to come to the United States. They were coming from China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, and South and North Korea. In those countries, gun laws were and continue to be very strict, so most law-abiding citizens are kept unarmed and defenseless.

Asian immigrants lived in the cities and suburban regions. While Asians tend to have conservative views when it comes to marriage, family, working hard, making money, they are not necessarily Republican with the exception of Michelle Malkin and a few others. Few of them go hunting or are involved in gun clubs and the like. In 2010 poll by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, 22% of Democrats admitted owning guns, the figure rises to  50% for Republicans and jumps to 65% for those Republicans in rural areas.

Shaoming Cheng, a lawyer licensed in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, agrees that few Asian Americans own guns because of restrictions in their home countries. “Asians probably own fewer weapons then Caucasians. In Asian countries, weapons are banned for the public.” Cheng said he wants to see measures taken to ensure that weapons do not fall into the wrong hands. His friend Due Tran, thinks the Asian American community generally supports some control over gun ownership, but do not want their possession eliminated. He cites Asian American business owners who might want a weapon to protect them from robbery.

Due Tran, a lawyer and a certified NRA gun instructor, and firearms dealer, teaches classes on gun safety. Tran, a veteran of the Marines, has an office with walls covered in certificates, newspaper clippings, and photos of his time in the Corp. He believes there should be more safety courses from more NRA-certified instructors. He insists that they must complete a gun safety-training course before purchasing a gun.

During the LA riots, Koreans without AR-15s, AK-47s and other rifles saw their businesses looted and burnt to the ground. It is obvious that the wildest mob can be intimidated by a man with a visible gun. It was armed Asians who stood their ground and did not let the criminals destroy everything they had worked so hard to create. Sadly, many unarmed Asians found out too late that California’s two week waiting period is no good when the mob is ready to destroy your store.

Liberals call this a “cooling down” period, too bad it doesn’t work for the criminals.

Washington DC and Chicago, IL have one of the strictest gun laws in the country, and the crime and murder rate are the highest in these cities than anywhere else.

According to, during the years in which the D.C. handgun ban and trigger lock law was in effect, the Washington DC murder rate averaged 73% higher than it was at the outset of the law, while the U.S. murder rate averaged 11% lower. In 1982, the city of Chicago instituted a ban on handguns. This ban barred civilians from possessing handguns except for those registered with the city government prior to enactment of the law.

The law also specified that such handguns had to be re-registered ever two years or owners would forfeit their right to possess them. In 1994, the law was amended to require annual re-registration. In the wake of Chicago’s handgun ban, at least five suburbs surrounding Chicago instituted similar handgun bans. When the Supreme Court overturned the District of Columbia’s handgun ban in June 2008, at least four of these suburbs repealed their bans.

Since the outset of the Chicago handgun ban, the percentage of Chicago murders committed with handguns has averaged about 40% higher than it was before the law took effect. In 2005, 96% of the firearm murder victims in Chicago were killed with handguns. Gun control fails at every point when put into law, because criminals do not give a damn about laws.

Asians that love America should also be concerned about the tyranny that comes when citizens are deprived of their firearms. Or as Judge Alex Kozinski puts it in his dissent on Silveira v. Lockye in 2002: “My excellent colleagues have forgotten these bitter lessons of history. The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime usually do. But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed only for those exceptionally rare circumstances when all other rights have failed. A free people can only afford to make this mistake once.”

History proves his words, for it’s always tyrants that seek to disarm the commoner: “In 1588, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, having become Kampaku (Imperial regent), ordered a new sword hunt; Hideyoshi, like Nobunaga, sought to solidify separations in the class structure, denying commoners weapons while allowing them to the nobles, the samurai class. In addition, Toyotomi’s sword hunt, like Nobunaga’s, was intended to prevent peasant uprisings, and to deny weapons to his adversaries. This hunt may have been inspired by a peasant uprising in Higo the year prior, but also served to disarm the warrior-monks of Mt. Koya and Tōnomine. Toyotomi claimed that the confiscated weapons would be melted down and used to create a giant image of the Buddha for the Asuka-dera monastery in Nara.”

China has tried gun control since 1966, in that country possessing a single gun can deliver a three-year sentence, even replicas are banned. Does that stop crime? Not really:

In early 2007, a man in northeast China killed five family members and neighbors in a rampage with a homemade pistol. In September 2007, a man in Guangzhou city in southern China was sentenced to 19 years after using a replica gun to rob a bank customer. And in December 2008, a guard at a munitions depot shot and killed a colleague over a chess match, and was shot to death himself by police two days later.

Ironically, China is one of the world’s largest gun makers, “…and many guns end up on the black market because of lax controls at factories and theft from armories…ther black market guns in China were homemade weapons of poor quality. Other better-quality guns are smuggled into China through Myanmar. Prices for smuggled weapons range from about 500 to 2,000 yuan (US$73 to US$294), Ding said…..China’s government periodically hosts rallies where citizens are encouraged to surrender guns in exchange for cash. One six-month campaign in 2008 netted 79,000 guns, 1.8 replica guns and 5.75 million bullets, according to the MPS. “

Great isn’t it? In China they treat law-abiding people like criminals while rewarding criminals with illegal guns with cash. Wouldn’t it be easier to legalize gun ownership and let the law-abiding citizens and the cops defend themselves with guns?

So what can we tell Asians when defending the Second Amendment?

A. America is a society based on individualism. In America we do not subordinate ourselves to the Society and the Government, we are innocent until proven guilty, it’s “we the people” not “I the government.” If you’re concerned about suicide, Japanese statistics show that the overall suicide rate is nearly twice as high as America. Teenage suicide is 30% more common in Japan and America.

B. Asians aren’t stereotyped as law-abiding because they don’t have guns, it’s simply part of their culture. “Simply put, the Japanese are among the most law-abiding people on earth, and far more law-abiding than Americans. America’s non-gun robbery rate is over 70 times Japan’s, an indication that something more significant than gun policy is involved in the differing crime rates between the two nations. Neither Japanese nor American prisoners have guns, but homicide by prisoners and attacks on guards occur frequently in American prisons, and almost never in Japanese prisons. Another indication that social standards matter more than gun laws is that Japanese-Americans, who have access to firearms, have a lower violent crime rate than do Japanese in Japan.

C. The consequences of not having a gun can be deadly: “In 1982. Vincent Chin was beaten to death by two White men (Ronald Ebens and Michael Nitz) who called him a “jap” (even though he was Chinese American) and blamed him and Japanese automakers for the current recession and the fact that they were about to lose their jobs. After a brief scuffle inside a local bar/night club, Vincent tried to run for his life until he was cornered nearby, held down by Nitz while Ebens repeatedly smashed his skull and bludgeoned him to death with a baseball bat.” The liberal website complains that “the judge in the case sentenced each man to only two years probation and a $3,700 fine — absolutely no jail time at all.”  But that’s not what’s important, laws punish criminals, guns protect people. Chin isn’t dead because a plea bargain was negotiated for manslaughter and a judge gave them a lower sentence. He’s dead because he didn’t have a gun. Even if you think “I’ll take martial arts classes” do you think a few classes are going to prepare you for experienced criminals? I don’t think so.

D. Asians are a visible minority stereotyped for being weak. No matter how many movies Jet Li and Jackie Chan make, most people don’t think Asians are ninjas that can go “Kill Bill” when facing gangsters. If Asiasn were stereotyped as gun owners, maybe this wouldn’t have happened:  “Four teens were charged with the strangling death of 49 year old Chinese account executive David Kao, in Flushing, New York.  Under questioning the teens, aged 16 and 17, confessed to dragging, choking, and beating Kao in the backseat of his car before dumping his body on a nearby street.”

E. The world is full of bad people willing to do bad things. Will you take a chance without a gun or improve your chances with one?

Selling to Christians

But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
Luke 22:36

Cafeteria Catholics and bleeding heart Christians pick and choose what they like from the bible. They claim they don’t want to judge, yet they judge our Second Amendment evil and support gun control with money and deeds. The Unitarians are the worst, not only they claim the so-called “separation of Church and State” is violated every time some valedictorian mentions Jesus, they actually think “he who lives by the sword, dies by the sword” means we can’t have swords or guns, when the reality is that Jesus was talking about criminals, those who make a living by the sword. The Romans were the law at that time, so when Jesus’s apostle raises the sword against the Roman soldier, he was in violation of the law, thus acting like a criminal.

Yet if Jesus hated swords as our enemies claim, why would he instruct them to sell their cloaks to buy one? Could it be that Jesus knew fighting the Romans was futile yet fighting criminals was OK? I think so.

Others claim Jesus was a pacifist who hated violence: “”You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.”

Yet there’s clearly a distinction between being slapped and being robbed or murdered. Jesus also spoke metaphorically, turning your other cheek can be doing a kindness to someone who doesn’t deserve it, perhaps to show him a lesson in humility.

“The reference to “an eye for an eye” was taken from Exodus 21:24-25, which deals with how the magistrate must deal with a crime. Namely, the punishment must fit the crime. The religious leaders of Christ’s day had twisted a passage that applied to the government and misused it as a principle of personal revenge.”

We also need to consider the difference between killing and murdering.

The Sixth Commandment tells us: “Thou shall not murder [the real translation].” In the chapters following, God gave to Moses many of the situations which require a death penalty. God clearly has not told us never to kill. He has told us not to murder, which means we are not to take an innocent life. Consider also that the civil magistrate is to be a terror to those who practice evil. This passage does not in any way imply that the role of law enforcement is to prevent crimes or to protect individuals from criminals. The magistrate is a minister to serve as “an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil (Rom. 13:4).

Consider what the enemies of Israel like the Philistines did when victorious: “…bondage exerted by the Philistines: “Now there was no blacksmith to be found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, ‘Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears.’ But all the Israelite’s went down to the Philistines to sharpen each man’s plowshare, his mattock, his ax, and his sickle. . . . So it came about, on the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people who were with Saul and Jonathan.” .” (1 Sam. 13:19-20, 22-23).

Sadly, a lot of Christians don’t get it. They think that because Jesus was crucified they also must be crucified (metaphorically speaking and sometimes literally as we have seen with some Christians in the Philippines). They don’t get that Jesus died so we could live, He sacrificed so we could be saved.

So when the Episcopal Church calls church members “to work for removal of handguns and assault weapons from homes, residential communities and vehicles…” one has to wonder if they are working for God or for Satan.

I’m not an evangelical Christian, I’m not a Biblical scholar, I am a sinner who sins and hopes God will forgive me someday. However, I don’t think God wants my handguns removed. Why would He want me to be unarmed and defenseless?

While it’s true the Lord does provide miracles, he expects us to do our part. God didn’t tell Noah “I will build you an ark,” he expected Noah to build the instrument of his salvation. God didn’t tell Moses, “I will bring you a magic carpet and fly you out of Egypt,” He told Moses to tell Pharaoh to let his people go. When Pharaoh said no, that’s when ten plagues started to fall.

All the prayer in the world is not going to make a fat man lose weight or a sick man be cured of his disease. We must see doctors, personal trainers, nutritionists, etc. In other words, God helps those who help themselves.

Guns are the instruments of our Salvation. When we own a gun, we are telling God we love God’s gift of life. A man who prays “Lord keep me safe” yet keeps himself unarmed, is lying to himself and to God. I can understand being unarmed in places where you’re not allowed to have a gun, but in those other places what’s your excuse? To me that’s like the Coast Guard throwing you a life jacket and you refusing it because God will save you. God won’t save you if you won’t do your part to save yourself.

No think about this, who hates God more than anyone? Satan of course. And who hates God’s creation more than anyone? Satan again. So who wants God’s creation to be raped, robbed, murdered, injured, etc.? Why it’s Satan again.

So when Christians support gun control, which interests are they really supporting? Which goals are they really benefiting? To me that’s like loving an alcoholic by giving him booze. The Father of Lies is the ultimate trickster, he will make men do evil while thinking they’re doing good.

When liberal Christians think guns are evil, they’re not thinking of the millions of people alive today because they had a gun. They’re not thinking of the guns the Secret Service carry to protect the president and his daughters. So to win them over, we must do the following.

A. Stop donating money to churches that oppose the Second Amendment and let them know why we’re not helping them.

B. If your Catholic Priest or Reverend demonizes guns, demand he give a sermon on Luke 22:36
C. Write or email to the national Church headquarters. Not every Presbyterian and Methodist is a raving liberal and some churches have already face schisms, so it’s time to make our voices heard.

D. Join a pro-gun evangelical church, and keep in mind I say “pro-gun” because some of them are more interested in positive thinking and other new age crap than in actually teaching God’s word.

Developing Friendly Gun-Ranges and other ideas to sell the Second Amendment.

The first gun range I ever visited was in Miami, it was an intimidating place, a pawn shop and gun range where you had to speak to them before they spoke to you. There was no “good afternoon” or “welcome to our gun range” or “hi, are you new? Interested in going shooting.” The place was somewhat run down, it made you feel like something illegal was going on.

My second gun range was in Chattanooga, a wonderful placed called Shooter’s Depot ( That place has the friendliest staff, people who make an effort to help you get the best shooting experience possible. The place is clean, has a comfortable sofa, nice product displays, an air-conditioned indoor gun range, and lots of classes from concealed carry to advanced tactical shooting.

Think about this, would Hooter’s be popular if the waitresses had frowns? Would you continue to shop at a store if you kept receiving bad customer service? Gun ranges and gun stores need to see their business as a business. I can understand zoning regulations may drive them to industrial areas, I know most shopping malls don’t want a gun store there. However, that’s no excuse to have a shabby-looking establishment with unhappy employees.

If you don’t own a gun range/store, that doesn’t mean there aren’t things you can do to sell the Second Amendment besides talking to strangers on Facebook. If you’re social and outgoing, starting a pro-gun meetup group in your area might be an ideal way to get experienced and inexperienced gun owners and interested parties together. The challenge is keeping people interested and coming back.

Another way of promoting our rights is by telling business with those “No Guns Allowed” signs that you own a gun and you won’t be patronizing their establishment until they get rid of those ridiculous signs. In Tennessee we made it legal for people with concealed weapons to visit bars, they can’t drink alcohol but they can carry in the establishment. This has not led to the Wild West fantasies liberal are always warning us about.

If you own a small business, consider creating gun-friendly policies for your customers and employees. If you’re afraid of office shootings, remember that those shootings happen at companies that ban employees from bringing their guns. Laws don’t stop madmen, guns do.

Best Concealed Carry HolstersConsider a pro-gun promotion, such as a free-gun giveaway. A local Radio Shack owner got in trouble with the parent company when he ran this billboard:

The irony is that he got nationwide media coverage and plenty of new customers came to his store, many bought something. I can’t do much about the politically-correct advertising agency and corporate scene. But when you reward pro-gun business and people, you are sending a clear message about how important the Second Amendment is and why being anti-gun is bad for business.

The same goes with the media. Writing a letter to any newspaper helps our cause, subscribing to an anti-gun newspaper does. Even though the Chattanooga Times Free Press isn’t the most biased newspaper out there (they even have two editorial pages, one liberal, one conservative), I refuse to give them my money until they fire anti-gun cartoonist Clay Bennett and hire more conservative voices. For you see, the conservative editor doesn’t defend our rights every day and sometimes focuses on the wrong issues.

Thanks to Facebook, there’s no need to support media that doesn’t support you. You can click on the links, comment on the Facebook posts, without giving them a penny. Facebook is also a great barometer of how people feel about issues, when their anti-gun story generations 200 pro-gun comments, that sends a message not just to them but to everyone who reads them.

I would also like to make an appeal to gun companies. It’s not enough to give your money to lobby groups; we need your help in defending the culture. The gun haters have Hollywood, Academia, and Journalists doing their job for them. Support pro-gun filmmakers, finance pro-gun documentaries, create and upload pro-gun videos on YouTube, don’t just target your primary market, create new markets!

In conclusion, selling the Second Amendment will not be easy. There are too many people whose minds have already been made up. There’s a reason John Stossel wrote “Myths, Lies and Stupidity,” it’s obvious that some people would rather believe in a convenient lie than an inconvenient truth.

However, I am hopeful that we to shall overcome. Let us remember the years under Obama not just as the worst years of our lives, but as the time when we raised our voices, stood up, and told the gun grabbers to go to hell.

George W. Bush said America does not negotiate with terrorists. We have no business negotiating with those who terrorize the Second Amendment. They say compromise, we say never! They say gun laws, we say gun lawsuits!

As salesman of the Second Amendment I understand we can’t close every sale, but we can try to get our message across. We can share facts, stories of self-defense, quotes from the founding fathers and our own personal views. Perhaps we can get them to agree with some of our points.

Most importantly, let’s change the debate from gun control to crime control.
